What is the best genealogy software and on-line services?

I want to set my Mother up with genealogy software and arrange it so that she can do research online. What is the best software and online services? Any suggestions or further advice?

I would like to call my child Sabrina-Dolly-Dixon (Surname Baxter)

A few friends has expressed concerns. i personally think it's tres classy.
