My maternal grandfather was a Campbell, and I’ve tried over the years to find solid evidence of their presence in Scotland, but as yet have not succeeded! Perhaps one day I will. On the other hand, someone traced my Adkins roots back to early seventeenth century Virginia, and then back to England. So at least I have a sense of my paternal roots.

What I have found so far is that the Campbell Clan is/was one of the largest Scottish clans in terms of #’s of people and septs. They have spread out all over the globe over the years, decades and centuries. Chances are pretty good that we can find the link to your grandfather. If you care to send the info, I will check my sources to see if I can find anything helpful and let you know (both the sources and information gained by those sources.
